UL 1480 UUMW and ULC-S541S are the standards for speakers for fire alarm, emergency, and commercial and professional use. The requirements cover speakers for indoor/outdoor use in dry, damp, or wet locations. They are intended for:
a) Fire alarm systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, and the National Fire Alarm Code, NFPA 72, providing emergency voice/alarm occupant notification;
b) Commercial and professional audio systems providing non-emergency sound reinforcement and reproduction in accordance with NFPA 70 (this includes equipment for institutional, industrial use);
c) Non-fire emergency voice-warning systems in accordance with NFPA 70; examples of non-fire emergency-warning systems include, (but are not limited to): critical process, distress alert systems, crowd control in public places, and non-fire emergency voice-systems covered by the Life Safety Code, NFPA 101.
TOA's SC-630TU Paging Horn is a compact, high-impedance, and highly intelligible speaker ideal for public address announcement applications. It has a built-in 25 V / 70V transformer with external screwdriver adjustable power taps. Its external speaker component is finished with powder coating, and stainless steel bracket and screws ensure the unit's weatherproof capability. The SC-630TU is certified to UL 1480 UUMW and ULC-S541 standards and is reliable for operation in demanding environmental conditions. It is easily installed on wall, pole or ceiling-mount applications. The SC-630TU is also designed for intercom talk-back applications, enabling dual operation as both a microphone and a speaker. The SC-630TU is also IP65 standards compliant for dust and moisture resistance with a wide operating temperature range,ideal for indoor and outdoor use.
Constructed with a metal cabinet, TOA's BS-680U Wall Mount Speaker is ideal for use in a voice alarm system. This speaker can be surface or flush mounted to the wall. Either concealed in-wall wiring or exposed wiring can be used for speaker cable connection. Mounting the speaker using the wall-mounting option prevents the speaker from falling, even if an outward force is applied to. The user can easily change the input impedance by changing the tap position of the transformer. High quality sound is delivered through the built-in 16 cm double cone speaker unit. The BS-680U is certified to UL 1480 UUMW and ULC-S541 standards and suitable for indoor use only.
